This Fund is dedicated to Oscar Lee, a man who started his own fruit orchard on a sunny hillside in Los Angeles, CA in 1965. Helen Lee, daughter of Oscar, was inspired to set up the Oscar Lee Orchard Fund as a tribute to her father’s passion for growing fruit trees. Helen reconnected with the memory of her father's passion after her son, Matthew Tao, joined the EarthDance team as an intern collecting data about EarthDance’s unique permaculture orchard. Matthew’s work will contribute to a database of knowledge that will be shared with the regional farming community via a mobile phone application. The money collected from this fund will be reserved for use towards EarthDance’s efforts to maintain their fruit orchard and to use the orchard for the benefit of the community through education, research, and access to local, organic fruit.
